GeoStructures has been awarded a contract to provide geotechnical instrumentation during the construction of the Venice Island Underground Storage Basin and Recreation Center. The primary objective of our work is to safeguard existing structures, an adjacent railroad, the Manayunk Canal and an underground 42 in. cast iron sewer line from potential harmful vibrations and lateral ground movements associated with sheet pile driving, geopier installation and underground excavation. The scope of the instrumentation includes: real-time vibration monitoring seismographs; lateral movement electronic inclinometers; stand pipe piezometers; optical survey surface markers; and settlement telltales. We are very excited to assist Daniel J. Keating Company and be part of this remarkable transformation of Manayunk!
