Drexel University Recreation Center

Drexel University Recreation Center
Project Overview
The original recreation center for Drexel University was built in the 1960s and clearly exemplified the “windowless” design fad of that era. Ready for a change, Drexel University set out to design and erect a new recreation center with an integrated sports facility.
GeoStructures was responsible for inspection and testing of the caisson foundation elements of the new recreation center. Our work included the following services:
- Observe and log drilling/augering of caissons
- Perform downhole inspection and verify the bottom bearing conditions
- Witness location survey and plumbness; check and record tolerances
- Supervise concrete placement
