Soil Improvement Techniques
Service Overview
GeoStructures offers a range of options for large-scale, in-place densification of granular soils. These options include intensive proof-rolling, dynamic compaction, and other densification/compaction techniques. For mitigating post-construction settlement of soft, saturated silt and clay deposits, preloading is an effective solution. In marginal sites, a combination of methods may be the most suitable approach. Additionally, lightweight fills can be utilized to offset structural loads and effectively “float” a building.
Intensive Proof-Rolling
Apply deep compaction energy to stabilize granular soils.
Ballast-Stabilized Footing Excavations
Use ballast to stabilize footing excavations for enhanced support.
Compaction and Low-Mobility Grouting
Improve soil strength and stability using grouting techniques.
Deep Dynamic Compaction
Apply high-energy impacts to densify soils at significant depths.
Vibro-Compaction and Vibro-Replacement
Uses vibratory techniques to improve soil density and strength.
Preloading and Sand or Wick Drains
Mitigate settlement in soft soils through preloading and drainage.
Cellular Concrete or Geofoam
Utilize lightweight materials to reduce load on soil.
Lightweight Fill
Offset structural loads to improve ground stability.
